INGREDIENTS:
- 1 bagel bread
- 800 ml semi-skimmed milk
- 100 g of sugar
- 2 orange peels
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 l of milk
- 3 eggs
- 2 lemon peels
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- Honey, butter and cinnamon to taste
- Cinnamon (for sprinkling) to taste
- 2 Tbsp sugar (for sprinkling)
PREPARATION:
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
In a saucepan, heat the milk, orange peels, cinnamon stick and vanilla extract.
Cut the bagel bread into thick slices and set aside.
Beat the eggs, add a little honey and cinnamon powder (to taste).
Grease a baking tray with butter, sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon and set aside.
Soak the slices of bread in hot milk. Place on the tray and pour over the remaining hot milk. Brush the slices with beaten egg yolk on both sides.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180ºC for about 30 minutes or until golden.
Remove from the oven, sprinkle with cinnamon and honey (to taste).
