Preparation time: 30 mins + time to rise | Cooking time: 40 mins | Serves: 6-8 people
INGREDIENTS:
- 850 g of flour
- 250 g sugar
- 75 g melted butter
- 20 g dry baker's yeast
- 3 raw eggs
- 4 boiled eggs
- 120 ml of milk
- 100 ml of warm water
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- Juice of 1 orange
- Tracing paper
PREPARATION:
For the dough: dissolve the yeast in warm water. In a bowl add the flour, open a cavity in the middle and add the dissolved yeast. Add the melted butter, eggs, milk, sugar, orange juice, ground cinnamon and salt. Mix all the ingredients well and beat vigorously until a ball of elastic dough forms. Cover the dough and let it rest for 2 hours until it doubles in size.
Line a tray with baking paper or spread with butter and sprinkle with flour.
Once proofed, place the dough on a work surface sprinkled with a pinch of flour to prevent it from sticking.
Mold the folar into a slightly flattened ball. Reserve a small portion of the dough and make ribbons.
Place the folar on the tray, insert the boiled eggs in the middle of the dough.
Place the strings around the eggs, pressing gently to seal.
Cover and let it rise for around 60 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
Brush with a beaten egg.
Bake at 180ºC for around 30 to 45 minutes, until golden on the outside and cooked on the inside (use a toothpick to check).
Let it cool and brush the dough with maple syrup and if you want, you can add powdered sugar.
